Ingredients
- 2 large pomegranates
- 1-2 tsp honey or sugar optional, for sweetness
- A splash of water optional, to adjust consistency
- Ice cubes for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Pomegranates:Cut each pomegranate in half horizontally. Hold one half over a bowl, cut side down, and gently tap the back of the pomegranate with a wooden spoon to release the seeds (arils). Repeat with the other half.
- Extract the Juice:– Blender Method: Add the pomegranate seeds to a blender and blend for 30-45 seconds. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, pressing to extract all the juice.– Juicer Method: If you have a juicer, simply feed the seeds through the juicer to extract the juice directly.
- Adjust Sweetness and Consistency:Taste the juice and add a little honey or sugar if desired for extra sweetness. If the juice is too thick, add a splash of water and stir.
- Serve:Pour the fresh pomegranate juice over ice cubes in glasses. Garnish with a few pomegranate seeds or a sprig of mint (optional).
Notes
- Choose ripe pomegranates that feel heavy for their size and have a deep red colour.
- Store leftover juice in the refrigerator for up to 2 days (shake well before serving).
